(I) The fish pond should be an outdoor cement pool with a single area of approximately 300 square meters and a water depth of 1.5 to 2 meters. It is recommended to use well water that meets the quality standards for aquaculture. Before starting the breeding process, the pond should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to ensure a healthy environment for the fish.
(II) For stocking, the fish should be of uniform size, with a body length ranging from 18 to 30 cm and a weight between 50 to 90 grams. Fish of different sizes should be kept in separate ponds to avoid competition and ensure even growth. The stocking density should be between 0.5 to 1.0 fish per square meter. Before introducing them into the pond, the fish should be soaked in a 5% saltwater solution for 20 minutes to reduce stress and prevent diseases. Feeding can begin on the second day after they are placed in the pond.
(C) Feeding and management: 1. Feed – During this stage, artificial pelleted feed can be used entirely. The feed formulation includes crude protein at 37.82%, crude fat at 5.96%, crude fiber at 8.48%, ash at 14.91%, nitrogen-free extract at 20.55%, moisture at 12.28%, and a particle size of 2–3 mm. Fish should be fed three times a day, with a daily feeding amount of about 2% of their total body weight.
2. Water quality control – Throughout the rearing period, the water depth should be maintained between 1.0 and 1.5 meters, preferably under flowing conditions. Dissolved oxygen levels should remain above 6 mg/L, and the water temperature should be kept within 18–26°C. Regularly remove sludge from the bottom to maintain clean and healthy water conditions.
3. Observation and inspection – It is important to regularly monitor the fish’s activity and feeding behavior. Adjust the daily feeding amount based on how actively the fish are eating. Promptly remove any sick or dead fish to prevent the spread of disease and maintain overall health in the pond.
