The main pest of tea in early summer tea

This year, the second generation of tea-foot ulnar rulers is expected to be more severe than the first, similar to last year's situation. Field surveys conducted at the Jingshan tea plantation site indicate that the second generation will be active between June 2nd and June 8th. For effective control, farmers can apply 2.5% Kung Fu (25 ml per acre) or 2.5% Enemy Kill (25 ml per acre), along with 0.5% Matrine (No.4) at 50 ml per mu. After application, a safety interval of 7 days is recommended before harvesting. The false eye small green leafhoppers and small green leafhoppers are forecasted to be moderately heavy this season, with their first peak occurring from early June through the early stages of high temperature and drought. The best time for prevention and control is in early June. Farmers should monitor nymph populations and apply treatment when nymphs make up over 80% of the total insect population. A suitable option is 10% Imidacloprid (15–20 grams per acre), with a 10-day safety interval after spraying. Tea Lizard Weevil, also known as Hua Henang, is one of the major pests in our district’s tea plantations. This year, it is expected to occur at a moderate level, with the optimal control period running from May 30th to June 5th. Farmers can use 2.5% Uranus (60 ml per mu) applied via sweeping spray, followed by a 10-day safety interval. Tea Orange Soup is also predicted to be of moderate severity this year. Older tea gardens and those that were not treated with lime sulfur at the end of last autumn are more vulnerable. Control should be carried out in early June. For untreated gardens, 1% Insecticide (20 ml per mu) or 0.6% Exterim (30 ml per mu) can be used effectively. Black Poisonous Moths are expected to be light this year, with most tea gardens not requiring pesticide application. However, a few plantations with tall tree canopies or located near forest belts may experience some infestation. The second generation is expected to peak between June 10th and June 15th. A recommended treatment is 2.5% Uranus (20 ml/mu) combined with 80% Dichlorvos (50 ml/mu), with a 7-day safety interval. The Tea Fine Moth is also expected to be light this year. Some young or newly transformed tea gardens may require control. The second generation's control period is in early June, and options include 2.5% Enemy Kill or 2.5% Kung Fu (10–15 ml per acre). These measures ensure effective pest management while maintaining crop safety.
