The main pest of tea in early summer tea

This year, the second generation of tea-foot ulnar rulers is expected to be more severe than the first, similar to last year's situation. Based on field larval surveys conducted at the Jingshan tea plantation monitoring site, it is predicted that the second generation will require control between June 2nd and June 8th. For effective management, farmers can apply either 2.5% Kung Fu (25 ml per acre) or 2.5% Enemy Kill (25 ml per acre), along with 0.5% Matrine (No.4) at 50 ml per mu. After application, a 7-day safety interval is recommended before any further activities in the field. The false eye small green leafhoppers and small green leafhoppers are also expected to be moderately heavy this year, with the first peak occurring from early June through the early stages of high temperature and drought. The optimal time for prevention and control is during early June. It is advised to take action when field nymphs (climbing stage) make up over 80% of the total insect population. Suitable agents include 10% Imidacloprid at 15–20 grams per acre, with a 10-day safety interval after spraying. The Tea Lily Weevil, also known as Hua Henang, is one of the key pests affecting tea plantations in our area. This year, its occurrence is moderate, with the recommended control period running from May 30th to June 5th. Farmers should use 2.5% Uranus at 60 ml per mu, applied via sweeping spray. A 10-day safety interval is required after application. Regarding the Tea Orange Soup, this year’s infestation level is moderate. Generally, older tea gardens are less affected compared to young or newly replanted ones. Particularly, gardens that did not undergo lime sulfur treatment at the end of last autumn need closer attention. The control window is set for early June. For those not using tea-specific treatments, 1% insecticide (20 ml per mu) or 0.6% Exterim (30 ml per mu) can be used effectively. Black Poisonous Moths are expected to be light this year, with most tea gardens not requiring chemical control. However, a few tea plantations with tall tree canopies near forest areas may experience some infestation. The ideal time for control of the second generation is between June 10th and June 15th. A mixture of 2.5% Uranus (20 ml/mu) and 80% Dichlorvos (50 ml/mu) can be used, with a 7-day safety interval post-application. Lastly, the Tea Fine Moth is also expected to be light this year. Some young or transformed tea gardens may require control. The second generation’s control period is around early June, and suitable options include 2.5% Enemy Kill or 2.5% Kung Fu at 10–15 ml per acre. These measures ensure both effective pest management and environmental safety.
