This rule is one of my go-to guidelines when it comes to arranging items. Odd numbers tend to look better than even ones because they create balance without feeling too symmetrical. For example, three candles on a mantel or three picture frames on a wall instantly feel balanced yet interesting.
When I’m stuck trying to figure out how to arrange things, I always default to this principle—it just works!

My own home reflects my love for whimsical touches like owl figurines and antique teacups. Don’t be afraid to celebrate what makes your space uniquely yours.

I needed a pedestal for some faux pears I had lying around, but instead of running to the store, I repurposed a vintage bowl and plate. Voila! Instant pedestal. You’d be surprised how many everyday objects can serve double duty if you think creatively.
