Do you remember that odd, mysterious shadow we talked about the other day? You know, the one that felt kind of eerie but also just plain strange?
Maybe it wasn’t as creepy as I initially thought, but it was definitely bizarre.
I wish I could tell you it was just the shadow of my sweet, lovable toddler—now that would’ve been much less unsettling.
Or better yet, imagine if it were from my ever-expanding belly. That’d make things a bit more poetic, right?
But alas, neither of those is true.
No, the big curve in that shadow comes from another expanding part of my anatomy—my backside. Definitely not the most flattering view.
Though, if we’re being honest, it’s hard not to notice where Baby Blue got their wild hair from!
Even knowing my husband snapped the picture doesn’t make this image any easier to embrace.
Sometimes, I think it’s better to just pretend the shadow belongs to my tiny, darling daughter. That version sounds much nicer.
And here’s another angle, courtesy of my husband trying to immortalize the moment with Briony. Spoiler alert—it’s still there, that shadow. Unchanging and unflattering.
Such are the wonders of pregnancy.
Speaking of wonders, I think I’ll go grab myself another doughnut now. Baby steps, right?
Anyway, moving on from my recent obsession with carbs (and shadows), I wanted to share something else I’ve been thinking about lately. Pregnancy has given me this strange sense of perspective—I feel like I’m constantly rediscovering parts of myself I didn’t even realize existed before. Like how resilient I am or how much patience I never knew I had. It’s equal parts exhausting and empowering.
Oh, and did I mention the food cravings? They’re getting weirder by the day. Last week it was pickles dipped in peanut butter. This week? Fried bananas with ketchup. Don’t ask me why, because I don’t have answers. But hey, if it keeps me sane during this rollercoaster ride, who am I to judge?
On a brighter note, Briony has become such a little helper lately. She loves ‘helping’ me cook dinner, which mostly involves dumping random ingredients into bowls and declaring them “magic potions.†At least she’s entertained, and I get a break every once in a while.
So yeah, life’s been a mix of chaos, humor, and yes, some awkward shadows. But overall, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Until next time, take care!
