Management of vegetable gardens after heavy rainfall in summer

In midsummer, heavy rains often disrupt the normal growth of vegetables, making post-rain garden management crucial. After a storm, standing water in the fields can weaken root activity, so it's essential to drain the excess water promptly to avoid root rot and other issues. Rain and sediment can coat vegetable stems and leaves with dirt, which hinders their ability to photosynthesize and grow properly. It's important to rinse off the mud from the plants using clean water as soon as possible. At the same time, adjusting the plants to reduce overcrowding will help them recover faster and grow more evenly. After heavy rain, it's advisable to use well water for irrigation—commonly called "watering the garden." This practice helps lower soil temperature, increases oxygen levels in the soil, and supports healthy root respiration, allowing the vegetables to maintain their normal growth cycle. When there's too much moisture in the soil, the roots may struggle to absorb nutrients effectively. To counter this, foliar fertilization is recommended. Mixing 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate with urea and spraying it on the leaves can boost nutrient uptake and help the plants regain vitality quickly. Once the soil has slightly dried after cultivation, it should be tilled to improve aeration and drainage. In the early morning, before the dew evaporates, applying wood ash or spraying a multi-bottle solution can help prevent the spread of diseases and infections, ensuring the health of your crops.
