Rabbits' size and weight can vary depending on their age. Adult rabbits typically weigh around 3.5 kilograms, and they usually consume about 150 to 200 grams of feed per day. Young rabbits, on the other hand, weigh approximately 1.75 kilograms and eat around 100 to 150 grams daily. When preparing the feed, it should be slightly moistened so that it can be formed into a loose ball and spread out evenly for easy consumption. Second, checking the fatness of the rabbit is important. If a rabbit is too fat, reduce the amount of feed and increase the proportion of roughage or raw materials. For underweight rabbits, provide more nutritious feed, including a higher concentration of grains. You can also offer soaked soybeans or crushed bean dregs mixed with water to improve their diet and promote better digestion. Third, observing the consistency of the feces is crucial. If the feces are dry, increase the rabbit’s water intake. Using an eye drop bottle to give them water directly can help. If the feces are too wet, mix the feed with dry ingredients to absorb excess moisture. In case of diarrhea, treat it immediately to prevent further health issues. Fourth, monitoring the rabbit's hunger and fullness is essential. Feed them when they're about 80% full to avoid overeating, which can lead to indigestion. To support their digestive system, add 1 to 2 kilograms of crushed dried orange peel per 100 kilograms of feed. This not only helps with digestion but also prevents diseases. Lastly, pay attention to the weather conditions. During winter, green feed should be brought indoors first to warm up before feeding. Concentrate feed should be mixed with hot water and kneaded into small clumps to slow down the cooling process. In summer, it's better to feed cool, watery grass. Avoid feeding overnight grass or warm grass, as it may cause digestive discomfort.
