“Sanshui Black-skin Melon†was produced in Sanshui District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. It was introduced in the late 1960s and early 1970s by Sanshui County Supply and Marketing Co., Ltd. at the time of the introduction of Dongguan Donggua and Sanshui Black-skinned melon. After several decades of optimization and breeding, the quality has been continuously improved, and the “Sanshui Black-skin melon†has been formed with the current skin-colored dark green, white and thick meat, excellent meat quality and good storage, good shape and strong appearance. At present, “Sanshui Black-skin melon†has formed two connected production bases in the shape of strips in Baiji-Jinben and Nanping-Leping-Lusheng-Datang. The annual planting area is 50,000 mu and the total output is 20. Ten thousand tons accounted for nearly 40% of the total vegetable output in our district. The annual total output value reached 150 million yuan, most of which were sold to the East China, Central China and North China regions. A small portion was sold to Xinjiang, Heilongjiang and other places and exported to Russia through local ports. Some of them are sold to Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asia, and are well received by consumers.
