According to the latest statistics from the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Ningxia, in the first 11 months of this year, the value of agricultural products exported from Ningxia reached 240 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 48.2% year-on-year, and surpassed the 200 million U.S. dollar mark for the first time, setting a record high. At present, 21 varieties of agricultural products of nearly 100 varieties in Ningxia have successfully entered 92 countries and regions, and the exporting countries have continuously expanded.
In 2006, the agricultural product export of the autonomous region exceeded 100 million U.S. dollars for the first time, and then stabilized at between 100 and 200 million U.S. dollars for many years. This year, the inspection and quarantine bureau of Ningxia further intensified its work. In response to the current situation of the small-scale export of agricultural products in the region and the backwardness of management methods and technical means, the Ningxia Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has held six training courses covering enterprise quality management, food safety, and detection technologies. On the other hand, standardized production and operation models have been effectively promoted. Up to now, there are 57 export food production enterprises that have filed for the record, 30 registered agricultural product registration companies, and 43 raw material bases. Eight Hong Kong vegetable bases were awarded the title of “Reputable Farm†by the Hong Kong Agriculture and Fisheries Department. The supply of Hong Kong and Macao vegetables has increased from 0.5 million mu in 2006 to 22,000 mu this year.
This year, the export of agricultural products in Ningxia was bright, with 7 products of fruit and vegetable seeds and sunflower seeds first coming out of the country, and rice entering the Korean market for the first time. With the help of the China-Arab economic and trade forum, the halal beef and mutton export trade achieved rapid growth. The bulk of agricultural products such as apple juice, ketchup, miscellaneous grains, beans, etc. have all increased by more than one time.
In order to ensure the quality of exported food, Ningxia Inspection and Quarantine Bureau launched a special campaign to crack down on the illegal addition and abuse of food additives, focusing on inspection of products such as export additives, bran juice, alcohol, and wine. In the special campaign, a total of 159 people were dispatched to inspect 36 food additive use companies and 6 food and feed additive manufacturers. The qualified rate of sample inspection reached 100%.
