Pollution-free pig production technology

Farm

(1) The farm should be located in an area with high elevation, good air circulation, access to a reliable water supply, and proper drainage. It should also be in a location that is easy to manage and control for disease prevention. The site must comply with local land use planning regulations. There should be no livestock slaughterhouses, meat processing facilities, large chemical plants, or hospitals within a 3-kilometer radius. Additionally, the main road should be at least 1 kilometer away from the farm premises.

(2) The total floor area of the pig farm should be calculated based on 2.5 to 4.0 square meters per finishing pig annually. This ensures adequate space for animal welfare and efficient management.

Introduction

(1) Breeding pigs must be sourced from licensed breeding farms that hold valid permits for livestock and poultry production and operation. They should come with a quality certificate, a health certificate issued by the Department of Science, and a veterinary health certificate. Upon arrival, the pigs must be quarantined and observed for 15 to 30 days. Only after passing a veterinary inspection and being confirmed as healthy can they be integrated into the herd.

(2) Piglets should originate from healthy litters produced by well-performing, disease-free breeding herds that are free from environmental contamination.

(3) Before introducing new animals, it's essential to conduct thorough research on the source. No breeding pigs or piglets should be brought in from areas affected by disease outbreaks or other risks.

Feed

1 All feed ingredients and additives must meet the standards outlined in the "Guidelines for Feeding Livestock Pigs" published by the Uniquitous Food Association.

2 Feed formulations should vary depending on the growth stage and physiological needs of the pigs, ensuring optimal nutrition at each phase of development.

3 Avoid using spoiled, moldy, infested, or contaminated feed, as well as unprocessed animal by-products that have not undergone safe treatment.

4 The use of stimulants, sedatives, hormones, or antibiotics in feed and drinking water is strictly prohibited.

5 If antibiotics are used as additives, the withdrawal period must be strictly followed according to the manufacturer’s guidelines before the pigs are slaughtered.

Disease Prevention

1 Maintain clean and efficient feeding and management practices to minimize disease occurrence and reduce reliance on medication. Vaccination should follow the guidelines set forth in "Non-Environmental Foods - Guidelines for the Use of Veterinary Drugs in Pig Production" and "Contamination-Free Food - Guidelines for Veterinary Surveillance of Live Pigs." All veterinary drugs and vaccines must come from reputable sources and meet quality standards. Choose manufacturers that have passed the veterinary drug GMP certification and provide complete documentation.

2 Develop a scientifically sound vaccination schedule, using approved vaccines to prevent common pig diseases. Keep detailed records of each immunization, including the date, number of animals vaccinated, vaccine type, manufacturer, batch number, and administration details.

3 Use only veterinary Chinese herbal medicines and traditional prescriptions listed in the "National Veterinary Pharmacopoeia" and "Veterinary Drug Specifications."

4 Veterinary drugs should be used under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian, strictly following the recommended dosage, usage instructions, and withdrawal periods.

5 Exercise caution when using adrenaline drugs, antiasthmatic medications, antipyretic analgesics, or any veterinary drugs that have not been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture or have been phased out. Always prioritize the health and safety of the animals and the quality of the final product.
