Its data comes from more than 40 million anonymous members of the four major medical insurance providers in the United States.
HCCI Managing Director David Newman said in a statement: "For many consumers, buying health care services seems to have no choice because it is too complicated. The purpose of Guroo is to change this situation. Tell consumers what health care services they can buy and where to buy them. As the price of related services increases, consumers are eager to spend their money."
With Guroo, consumers can estimate the cost of treating various diseases such as childbirth, knee pain and asthma. Mainly based on compensation paid by medical insurance companies to medical service providers in the past. In addition, consumers can compare the price of services in different regions to choose the most cost-effective service.
For example, if consumers want to know the price of knee MRI in countries, states, and regions, they will find that the national average price is $681, and Wisconsin's average price is $1912, while the state of Wisconsin Madison The price is $2511.
HCCI is currently refining the site to add more medical service cost data. HCCI started the project last May, when it only worked with Aetna, Humana and UnitedHealthcare.
Since last year, some insurance companies have also begun to increase price transparency services for their websites and applications. Earlier this month, Aetna updated its iTriage app to add price comparisons. Last year, UnitedHealthcare announced at CES that it will launch an online reservation system, myEasyBook, for its members, allowing members to compare the service costs of different providers.
