How to measure the area of ​​isolated pine needle leaves with the Yaxin-1241 leaf area meter?
The Yaxin-1241 leaf area meter developed and produced by our company has received strong attention and has been widely used. Among them, how to apply it to measure the leaf area of ​​pine needles is a problem for forestry users. To this end, our company's laboratories have conducted the following tests specifically for this problem, and initially obtained valuable test results and appropriate test methods. Here, I hope to discuss and share with you.
experiment material:
Pine needles (8-10 cm long, about 1 mm in diameter), more than 40 roots.
Test Instruments:
Yaxin-1241 leaf area meter (developed and produced by our company).
experiment procedure:
1. Spread the pine needle under the stamp of the Yaxin-1241 leaf area meter (as shown below);
2. The scanning head is pressed against the left side rail of the scanning board, and the scanning is performed at a constant speed;
3. Read the leaf area after the scan ends;
4. Repeat the above operation 3 times.
Result analysis:
In this test, the leaf area obtained by manual measurement (frame method) was 31.8 cm 2 , the Yaxin-1241 leaf area meter reading was 30.29 cm 2 , and the relative error with manual measurement was 4.7%.
Precautions:
1. Try to keep the pine needles close to each other without overlapping;
2. Avoid placing the pine needles vertically or diagonally on the board. That will greatly increase the error (up to 30-50%);
3. Since the surface of the pine needle is multi-faceted, the instrument reading shows the projected area of ​​the sample being measured. This must be explained.

1. Except for the leaf area reading, the accuracy of the three parameters of length, width and perimeter displayed by the instrument is not within the research scope of this experiment;
