Swine jungle leg and foot rot

Jungle legs are caused by a hooves infection. The hooves are swollen and the tenderness around the coronal belt is intense. The disease is caused by stabbing at the bottom of the hoof, cracking at the junction of the hoof wall and the hoof, or cracking of the hoof wall itself. Usually there is only one hooves on the pathogenesis, and the hooves are more common, especially the outer leaves of the hind hooves, which are the most affected and have the most morbidity. Sometimes the infection runs deep into the soft tissue between the two hoofs. This condition is called foot rot. This type of foot rot that penetrates deeper into the soft tissue is usually caused by fusobacterium.

symptom

All kinds of pigs were lame, painful, and swollen lobes. The joint between the hoof and hoof wall cracks, or the hoof wall itself cracks, the lobes swell and become larger, and often cause inflammation at the junction between the lobes. In most cases, the coronal band is swollen and abscesses may appear. After the rupture, the thick liquid overflows the surface.

Cause of illness

It is easily caused by the foreign body piercing the hoof ball, the cracking between the hoof ball and the hoof wall, or the cracking of the hoof wall itself. Floor surface quality is poor. Sows cause trauma to piglets. Leaking floors causes trauma to piglets.

diagnosis

Diagnosis is based on clinical symptoms. Pay attention to the difference between this disease and other leg patients, such as foot-and-mouth disease, erysipelas, Glacei's disease, osteochondritis (OCD), and mycoplasma arthritis.

treatment

When the pig is lying down, its hooves are inspected and the blood supply in the infected tissue is poor. Therefore, the dose of antibiotics should be increased and the medication time should be extended in order to achieve therapeutic effects.

The following antibiotics can be selected for treatment: Lincomycin, 11 mg/kg body weight daily, Oxytetracycline, 25 mg/kg body weight daily, Amoxycillin, 15 mg/kg body weight daily, Continuous injection 5 ~ 7 days.

If continuous administration does not improve for three days, another antibiotic should be used instead. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to fully recover. Can be used orally or by injection of anti-inflammatory drugs to alleviate the symptoms, such as: benzoxazolone, if the pigs generally suffer from this disease, 1% formalin (must be implemented in a ventilated environment) or 5% copper sulfate solution bath foot, each Weekly chasing pigs ran through the liquid for 2 to 3 weeks.

However, it should be noted that this treatment should not be done in the case of dry hoof cracks, which would aggravate the condition.
