Exploration of Golden Bream Breeding Technology in Shagou Town, Jiangsu Province

Gold carp culture is characterized by fast growth, short cycle, strong disease resistance, and good market prospects. It is suitable for high-yield and high-efficiency breeding and is favored by farmers and consumers. Chen Changgao, member of the Fishery Breeding Professional Cooperative Association of Guozheng Lake, Shagou Town, Xinghua City, Jiangsu Province, introduced the red snapper parent from the fry breeding ground in Ninghe County, Tianjin City in spring of 2009, and the artificial breeding of the local male squid resulted in the trial production of golden carp seedlings. In 2010, Chen Chang had raised more than 500,000 gold seedlings. At the same time, Chen Changgao stocked 80,000 gold carp seedlings in the mouth of 8.5 mu he contracted. By the end of the year, he had cultivated more than 9000 jins of gold carp. In 2011, Chen Changgao continued to explore the breeding techniques of fry. On April 12th, he began the breeding of gold carp seedlings this year. It is estimated that about 8 million fish can be produced from gold carp seedlings and black catfish. Fry and Wuzi have now been booked and demand exceeds supply.

Under the influence of Chen Changgao, more than 30 cooperative association members have introduced parental breeding, and it is expected that 30 million gold carp seedlings will be produced, which will provide high-quality seed protection for the development of adult culture of golden bream. The Associated Press last year developed a total of 3,600 hectares of aquaculture area for the production of gold pupa, and yielded more than 1,500 kilos per acre, which increased production and efficiency.

The breeding technology of gold carp seedlings explored by the Guozhen Lake Aquatic Breeding Professional Cooperatives Association is of great value for promotion, and it also adds stamina to the sustainable development of the fishing industry in Shagou Town and even Xinghua City.
